Family Pecan-and-Raisin Dressing

This is one of Mother’s––it’s an old family recipe from the South. One of the many recipes you will find in "Dinner at Chuggie's." Please see below for pre-order information.

Serves 10
1 pound day-old whole-wheat bread, torn coarsely
1 pound golden raisins
1 pound pecans, chopped coarsely
1 cup melted butter
rich turkey broth (use your own good judgment for the amount of broth)

Preheat oven to 250°. In a large bowl, combine the dry ingredients. Add the butter and broth and whoops together (mixture should be moist but not soggy). Place in a buttered shallow casserole and bake 20 to 30 minutes until hot throughout. Use a pretty casserole so you can take it from oven to table. Beware: raisins burn easily!

NOTE: This dressing is never put inside a bird. It is very special in our family, and no holiday dinner would ever be enjoyed without it.
